Models

Knowing that I wanted to do items for tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons, I had to start with reference and an idea of a limited set of gear to focus on. Using items I'd designed for my own D&D Campaign, I focused on five: an axe, a necklace, a ring, a circlet, and a shield.

Each item was modeled based off its reference in Maya, trying to stay as low-poly as possible, intending to get detail through the textures.

I UV'd each model, then originally intended to do all the texturing within Photoshop, but at the suggestion of my professor, used Substance Painter instead for the more realistic textures. The first pass on each model was rough, given I wasn't sure what I was doing, but after some more practice I went back through and tried to do a more professional job with the texturing, using what I had learned.
